Chicago Man Charged With Robbing West Hartford Auto Parts Store: WHPD

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon on New Park Avenue.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — An accused auto parts store robber fleeing on a bicycle in West Hartford Tuesday was set to be arraigned in court Wednesday, West Hartford police said.

According to a West Hartford Police Department statement issued Wednesday afternoon, Luis Pagan, 38, of Chicago, Ill., was charged with first-degree robbery; second-degree breach of peace; sixth-degree larceny; fifth-degree larceny; third-degree criminal mischief; second-degree criminal mischief; risk of injury to a child; second-degree assault; unlawful restraint; illegal use of a facsimile firearm; possession of drug paraphernalia; and interfering with an officer.

Police said he was slated for arraignment in Hartford Superior Court Wednesday after being held on a $250,000 bond.

The WHPD released several details of the incident, which happened in a busy commercial district in the town Tuesday afternoon.

Police said, at approximately 2:44 p.m., officers responded to the area of 443 New Park Ave. (Advance Auto Parts) for a report of an armed robbery involving a firearm.

Emergency dispatchers were told a male suspect left the scene on a bicycle traveling north on New Park Avenue, police said.

During the robbery, an employee at Advance Auto Parts sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to the WHPD.

The suspect was located by officers near the intersection of New Park Avenue and Merrill Street. He was taken into custody while in possession of a facsimile firearm.

An undisclosed amount of money was stolen and recovered during this incident, according to police.

Pagan, meanwhile, was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Upon release from the hospital, he was processed and charged at the West Hartford Police Department.
