Chicken And Doughnuts Concept Restaurant Closes In West Hartford

The Hartford Baking Company's experiment with chicken and doughnuts in West Hartford has come to an end.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The chicken and doughnuts experiment by the Hartford Baking Company in West Hartford has apparently failed after just seven months.

Citizen Chicken and Donuts was an HBC restaurant located at 625 New Park Ave. in West Hartford.

A cryptic note on the restaurant's Facebook page indicated it was "permanently closed." A staff member at the Hartford Baking Company's other West Hartford location on Farmington Avenue said it has been struggling with pandemic-related issues that included getting chicken delivered.

Hartford Baking Company opened up Citizens Chicken & Donuts in February in the Elmwood section of town. Ownership touted the hand-breaded fried chicken and doughnuts theme as the company being "at it again with a fun new concept."

The specialty was brioche donuts and chicken.

It had 6,111 likes on Facebook, but the run came to an end this week.
