Christmas Tree Collection Announced In West Hartford
Officials announce the schedule for the annual Christmas tree collection program in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The annual Christmas tree collection program by the Public Works Department will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 2 and run through Jan. 15. Residents in the Monday and Tuesday refuse collection areas should have their trees at the curb by 6 am for Christmas trees to be collected during the first week, officials announced in a press release.
Residents do not have to wait for their trash day to put the trees out as DPW may get ahead of schedule. The Town will be making a sweep through the town twice and may get ahead of schedule, weather permitting the collection will end on Monday, Jan. 15, 2018.
The collection will proceed from the Monday refuse collection area into the Tuesday refuse collection area, then into the Wednesday refuse collection area and so on until crews make two complete passes of the Town.

Residents are reminded that the trees are recycled into wood chips. Therefore, remove any plastic bags, ornaments, lights or stands from your tree before you place it at the curb.
Officials are asking residents to remove their trees from the side of the road during snowstorms.

Residents may also bring their trees to the town Recycling Center at 25 Brixton Center from Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Note: there are no weekend hours at the Recycling Center from Dec. 23 until April.
