- The Concert Band at Eastern Connecticut State University is amid its fall 2019 season of performance. This instrumental ensemble performs classic band literature as well as challenging works from contemporary composers. Among the student performers is Hannah Avena of West Hartford, who majors in Music and Sustainable Energy Studies and plays the trombone.
- The 3 O'clock Band at Eastern Connecticut State University is amid its fall 2019 season of performance. The band is a jazz combo that plays music from a variety of eras including contemporary jazz and rock discoveries. Hannah Avena of West Hartford, who majors in Music and Sustainable Energy Studies and plays the Trombone and Euphonium. "I learned over the summer and took it from there! Now trombone is my main instrument." Samantha Warshauer of West Hartford, who majors in Music and plays the Singer. "I enjoy performing because it gives me a sense of solidarity and connection to other members of the band as well as the audience."
- The men's soccer team at Eastern Connecticut State University recently began its fall 2019 season, with 11 new players and 20 returning players. Among the student athletes on this year's team is number 4, Abbey Fitzsimmons of West Hartford, who majors in Health Sciences. This is Fitzsimmons's fourth year playing as an Eastern Warrior. Her position on the field is forward. Some of Fitzsimmons career highlights include becoming varsity lettered in her first soccer season at Eastern, being named All-Tournament at the Mayor's Cup in 2017 and making the LEC Academic Honor Roll.

- Three West Hartford residents recently matriculated as first-year students at Hamilton College. Sophie Christensen is a graduate of Hall High School; Colebrooke Johnson is a graduate of Conard High School; and Anne Tulikangas is a graduate of Hall High School. They were selected from a pool of 8,339 applicants to the college, and join a class of 474.
