Conard HS' Latest Play Will Be A 'Disaster' (Not Really ... Just Fun)
The Conard High School in West Hartford theater department is putting on 'Disaster,' a musical comedy honoring 1970s disaster films.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — If you're old enough to remember the 1970s disaster movie genre (Think Irwin "The Master of Disaster" Allen), then Conard High School's upcoming play is for you.
And if you don't remember those classics like "Airport," "The Towering Inferno" and "The Poseidon Adventure," don't fret.
CHS' musical will still have you laughing and tapping your toes.

For two straight weekends, the CHS drama department is putting on performances of the Broadway musical comedy "Disaster."
The play dates back to 2011 and it pays homage —comedically and musically —to those 1970s disaster movies that have gained a cult following.

Set in 1979 New York City, the play is about a group of friends who visit a new, floating casino in the Big Apple that is hit with several different "disasters."
The show features songs from the 1970s and a lot of comedy.
Show times and dates at the school, which is located at 110 Beachwood Road, West Hartford, are:
• Friday, March 7, Saturday, March 8, Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15, at 7 p.m.
• Sunday, March 9, at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for students/senior citizens and can be purchased online.
