Connecticut Children's Medical Center Executive Appointed to The Children's Museum Board of Trustees

WEST HARTFORD, CT (March 7, 2017) – The Children’s Museum recently announced the appointment of Cheryl Hoey, BSN, MBA, to its board of trustees, effective March 22.

Hoey is a senior vice president for clinical services and chief nursing officer at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. “To be unanimously selected to sit on The Children’s Museum’s board is quite an honor,” said Hoey. “Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and The Children’s Museum both put children and families first. We share many of the same values. I believe strongly in its mission to encourage all visitors to become creative thinkers and lifelong learners.”

During her time at Connecticut Children’s, Hoey has developed a shared governance model for nursing, implemented a Nurse Residency program, launched the Nurse Leadership Academy, spearheaded the patient and family experience initiative, partnered with quality colleagues to implement a culture of safety program in conjunction with the Connecticut Hospital Association state-wide collaborative, and collaborated with UCONN School of Nursing to develop the Institute for Nursing Research at Connecticut Children’s.

She adds an important child health element and perspective to our agenda--something we have been eager to do for some time. With her help we have already launched a Children's Safety Fair for March 18, initiated planning a second set of programs at CCMC and are looking forward to several other synergistic opportunities."

In 2006, Hoey earned her Master’s of Science in management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven. Cheryl was the 2014 recipient of the Connecticut Nurses Association Doris M. Armstrong Diamond Jubilee Award for outstanding contributions to nursing leadership.
