CVS To Close West Hartford Pharmacy: Spokesperson
The pharmaceutical retail giant will still operate several other CVS locations in town.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — With seven CVS pharmacies in town, West Hartford residents are never far from getting their prescriptions filled or finding a last-minute gift.
But next month, that will change, as CVS this week announced it is closing one of the stores in town — 978 Farmington Ave.
CVS spokesperson Amy Thibault, the company's director of external communications, confirmed Tuesday the pharmaceutical retail giant would shutter that store Sept. 20.

She said prescriptions at that location will be transferred to the CVS pharmacy at 150 S. Main St. "to ensure that patients continue to have uninterrupted access to pharmacy care."
Thibault said customers can choose other pharmacies for their prescriptions if they wish.

She also said that existing workers at 978 Farmington Ave. will be offered "comparable roles" at other CVS locations.
Thibault said a multitude of factors were cited as reasons for the closure.
"Maintaining access to pharmacy services in the communities we serve is an important factor we consider when making store closure decisions," Thibault said.
"Other factors include local market dynamics, population shifts, a community’s store density, and ensuring there are other geographic access points to meet the needs of the community."
She said the six remaining CVS Pharmacy locations in West Hartford will continue to operate and the company also offers prescription home delivery service to eligible patients through CVS.com and the CVS Pharmacy app.
