Democratic Primary Set for West Hartford Probate Judge
Two Democrats are vying to be the probate judge candidate in the November election.

West Hartford, CT — West Hartford Democrats will head to the polls Aug. 9 in a primary election to determine who will be the probate judge candidate in the November election.
The Hartford Courant reports contender Michael J. Croll officially garnered enough signatures last week to challenge the endorsed Democratic candidate Owen Eagan.
Republicans have not put up a candidate for the probate judge position, according to the Courant.

The Courant reports that current Probate Judge Sydney Elkin will turn 70 in October and must retire, according to state statute, after serving 14 years in the position and before his term expires. The winner of the Nov. 8 special election will serve the remainder of the term, until Jan. 9, 2019.
