Discussion of Tension Between the US and North Korea at Oct. 10 World Affairs Series

The escalating tensions between the US and North Korea will be the focus of the Oct. 10 World Affairs series at Duncaster.

The escalating tensions between the US and North Korea will be the focus of the Oct. 10 World Affairs series. The meeting will be held at Duncaster from 10:30 a.m. to noon and is open to the public with preregistration.

Teeing up the discussion will be video interviews between Charlie Rose, high level foreign affairs journalists and policy makers. All will look at the impact of North Korea’s recent developments involving nuclear weapons and the missile systems to deliver them. These have resulted in the escalation of tension between the two countries. “The need for the leaders of both countries to tone down their fiery rhetoric is obvious,” says World Affairs discussion facilitator Herb Hershenson. “Everyone wishes that diplomacy can calm the situation as the military alternative is too horrible to even contemplate.” The discussion will cover the impact of recent developments and the alternatives available to defuse them.

The discussion is part of Duncaster’s World Affairs Series, which is presented to the community by the residents of Duncaster on the second and fourth Tuesdays of every month. Participants include Duncaster residents, as well as local citizens.
