Town of West Hartford
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Now that spring has officially sprung, West Hartford is seeking donations of a unique variety that can be enjoyed as the weather improves.

Like other swap-like events, the premise is simple: People donated their unwanted footballs, baseball gloves, soccer balls/goals, or any other sports equipment.
Then, on a select day — which in this case is April 6 at West Hartford Town Hall — community members can help themselves to whatever "new" equipment they need.

"Many families have youth sports equipment they are no longer using, which can be repurposed," wrote the town.
"This is a great way to do spring cleaning, recycle equipment in good condition, and help families with the cost of getting their kids involved in youth sports."
Folks are asked to bring equipment to any drop-off location between March 31 and April 4.
Items not accepted, however, are helmets, clothing, uniforms, or broken/damaged items.
Donations are also accepted on the day of the event April 6.
Sports equipment drop-off locations will be:
- The Bridge Family Center(100 Shield St.)
- West Hartford Town Hall lobby (50 S. Main St.)
- Elmwood Community Center lobby (1106 New Britain Ave.)
To get equipment, people need to come to West Hartford Town Hall's auditorium, 50 S. Main St., on Sunday, April 6, from noon to 3 p.m. The event is open to all families.
"Gear Up for Sports" is organized by local parents with support from The Bridge Family Center’s Teen Leadership Committee and the Town of West Hartford Leisure and Social Services Department.
