Dozing Driver Crashes into Traffic Light Control Box: West Hartford Police
The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries, while the traffic lights were knocked out of service.

A dozing driver veered off the road and struck the traffic light control box on the northwest corner of the intersection of Farmington Avenue and Mountain Road in West Hartford on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash, which occurred around 12:42 p.m., resulted in the control box being torn from its foundation and the traffic lights at the intersection were knocked out of service, according to West Hartford Police Captain Jeffrey Rose.
The driver of the car, Kyle Saunders, 22, of Bloomfield, was treated for minor injuries at the scene and was transported to St. Francis Hospital.

Saunders told police that he dozed off while driving, according to Rose.
The West Hartford Department of Public Works is working to restore the traffic lights and has placed temporary stop signs at the intersection for traffic control.
