Charter Oak Cultural Center will present an engaging, multifaceted and colorful evening of dance featuring the talented artists of Hartford’s own Dance Connect and New Haven’s Elm City Dance Collective (ECDC)May 18th and 19th. Chloe Carlson (Director, Dance Connect), Kellie Lynch and Lindsey Bauer (Directors, ECDC) invite audiences to serve as both witnesses and participants in this display of dynamic and diverse dance from both companies.
"We're passionate about making dance more accessible, and about broadening how an audience experiences dance," Carlson said recently. "With that in mind, we're excited to offer attendees a tour of our 'dance aquarium' as part of our preshow." As the audience arrives, dancers will be performing several installations featuring movements from the evening's dance pieces as dancer "tour guides" share information about the creation of these pieces. Audience members will then see this deconstructed movement in the concert performance. The preshow begins at 7:00, curtain at 7:30
