A screening of the documentary film, Miss Representation, will be offered by Saint Joseph College and the Center for Academic Excellence at 7pm on Tuesday, April 3rd in the Bruyette Athenaeum at SJC on Asylum Avenue in West Hartford.
The documentary, by Jennifer Siebel Newsom, looks at ways society undervalues women. It explores how society sends an overwhelming message that a woman's value and power lie in her youth, beauty, and sexuality—and not in her capacity as a leader.
This provocative film premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and aired on OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network. The running time is 78 minutes.
