Mandell JCC Presents Spiritual Energy: Past, Present, and Future; Works by Joanne Tarlin; Opening Reception Sunday, September 30, 2012

The Mandell JCC presents works from Joanne Tarlin in Spiritual Energy: Past, Present, and Future, in the Chase Family Gallery at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT. The exhibit runs Sunday, September 30 through Saturday, November 10, 2012, with a free opening reception with Tarlin on Sunday, September 30, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The artist feels that her paintings tap into her emotions and subconscious. Colors are mixed and she attempts to let her spiritual energy flow onto the canvas. The exhibit also serves as a memorial to Tarlin’s father, Bertram Tarlin, whose passing inspired her to paint a mosaic of 88 canvases, one for each year he lived. The memorial piece, Silent Soul, personifies his character and conveys Tarlin’s feelings about her questions and memories of him.

Both the exhibit and opening reception with the artist are free and open to the community.
