The Universalist Church of West Hartford presents selections from Duke Ellington’s Sacred Concerts including the songs “Come Sunday”, “Heaven” and “Tell Me It’s The Truth” on Sunday, May 6, 2012. The Universalist Church Choir featuring soloists Michelle Fenton Begley, Cynthia Wolcott, Ray Giolitto and Greg Clark and accompanied by special guests the Al Fenton Big Band will perform highlights from the historic Sacred Concerts that Ellington produced between1965 and 1973. This deeply spiritual yet joyous music is some of the last that Ellington produced and is rarely performed in its original format. Director of Music, Theodore L. Hine, will lead two performances during worship - one during each regular Sunday service at 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM respectively. This event is free and open to the public.
