Firefighters Deliver Baby At Home In West Hartford

Firefighters made a special delivery at a home in West Hartford early Thursday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Firefighters made a special delivery early Thursday morning, helping to bring a baby boy into the world. The West Hartford Fire Department responded to a call of a woman in labor shortly after 4 a.m. and found that the baby was coming imminently.

“On their arrival and after determining that delivery was imminent, members of Engine 2/Group 2 assisted with a home birth of a healthy baby boy!,” the Professional Firefighters of West Hartford-IAFF Local 1241 union wrote in a post on Facebook. “Mom and newborn are all doing very well. Congratulations to the family and a great job to Captain Smith, Apparatus Operator Sinatro, Firefighter Shea, Firefighter/Paramedic Irvine. Special thanks to our partners at the West Hartford Police Department and the crew of AMR Hartford who assisted with transportation.”
