Flu Shot Clinics Available For WeHa Residents This Week: UPDATE

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District has special flu shot clinics through October and November.

WEST HARTFORD/BLOOMFIELD, CT — The onset of autumn means flu season is close behind.

And while Covid has attracted most peoples' attention when it comes to public health issues, flu has been an annual health bugaboo that's been with us for decades.

The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District invites residents age 4 and up to get a seasonal flu vaccine at one of the public clinics in October and November, the next one being Thursday, Oct. 26.

The health district offers high-dose, regular and pediatric flu vaccines.

People are asked to bring their identification, and insurance card (including Medicare and supplemental cards) and wear short sleeves.

Insurance plans that are accepted include Aetna, Anthem BC/BS, Cigna, Medicaid, Medicare Part B, United Health/Oxford and Connecticare.

For those who do not have insurance, the fee is $20 for pediatric flu vaccine, $50 for adult vaccine, and $75 for high-dose vaccine. Cash or checks are accepted; no credit cards.

Upcoming clinic dates are:

• Thursday, Oct. 26 - Elmwood Community Center auditorium, 1106 New Britain Ave., 10 a.m. to noon.

• Thursday, Oct. 26 - West Hartford Town Hall auditorium, 50 S. Main St., 2:30-5:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, Oct. 31 - Bishops Corner Senior Center, 15 Starkel Road, 10 a.m. to noon.

• Thursday, Nov. 9 - Elmwood Community Center auditorium, 1106 New Britain Ave., 10 a.m. to noon.

• Tuesday, Nov. 14 - Bloomfield Senior Center, 330 Park Ave., Bloomfield, 10 a.m. to noon.

• Tuesday, Nov. 28 - Bishops Corner Senior Center, 15 Starkel Road, 10 a.m. to noon.
