Free Online Archive Of West Hartford History Launched

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Researchers, history enthusiasts and residents can now explore portions of West Hartford's historical collections from anywhere through a new online database launched by the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society.

The museum announced that the public can now access a growing selection of its collections through an online portal, marking the first time many of the materials have been available digitally.

The Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society houses extensive collections documenting the life and work of lexicographer Noah Webster, as well as the history of West Hartford from its beginnings as a rural farming community to its development into a modern suburban town.

The collections are preserved in the Tracey M. Wilson West Hartford History Center.

According to the museum, nearly every record currently available through the online database includes at least one image.

Those images may be downloaded and used free of charge for personal and nonprofit purposes.

Museum officials said additional records will continue to be added, expanding public access to the institution's historical holdings over time.

The online archive includes photographs, documents, artifacts and other materials related to Noah Webster and West Hartford's history.

The museum encourages visitors to return regularly as new records are added to the database.
