Girl, 6, Battling Cancer Lights West Hartford Christmas Tree

The girl, who thought she would just be having dinner with her family, kicked off this year's Holiday Stroll.

This year’s Holiday Stroll proved to be a very special night for a 6-year-old West Hartford girl battling cancer.

The Hartford Courant reports Kiley Sullivan, dressed in her favorite aqua and gold princess dress, thought she would be enjoying a night with her family at the Cheesecake Factory but instead was told by her father that she would be lighting the Christmas tree alongside Santa Claus.

Kiley, who was too sick to attend last year’s event, kicked off the festivities with help from her sister Allie, who lit the tree last year in her place, according to the Courant.

Kiley, who is currently in remission after being diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, told the Courant she was “amazed” to light the tree.
