Got Wheels? West Hartford Will Let You Ride/Skate On Sunday

WEST HARTFORD, CT —Folks and families who love to move via human-powered wheels can do so this Sunday for much of the day in West Hartford.

Bike West Hartford invites people to its annual family-friendly Center Streets event, where folks can bike, skate, or stroll on car-free streets in West Hartford Center.

The free event is held on Sunday, Aug. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"It's a block party on wheels," wrote event organizers.

A segment of Farmington Avenue, South Main Street, Memorial Road Extension, and LaSalle Road will be closed to form a rectangular loop through the center business district.

Activities during Center Streets will include live music by Suburban Escape Plan and an appearance by Anne Cubberly's giant puppets from Hartford’s Nightfall Show.

Children can play in the street with hula hoops, chalk, and bubbles.

Meanwhile, area restaurants will offer specials and Larsen Ace Hardware will hand out popcorn.
