Gravesite Flags To Be Collected In West Hartford
The local American Legion is looking for volunteers to help with the collection this Saturday, June 1, at a West Hartford cemetery.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The local American Legion post is asking for some volunteers Saturday morning to help collect American flags left on veterans' graves for Memorial Day.
In doing so, American Legion Post 96 says it is preparing to collect the flags and store them to be put back on the gravesites for Veterans Day in November.
Volunteers are being requested to show up at Fairview Cemetery, 200 Whitman Ave., at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 1.

"The American Legion Post 96 requests help to collect the small American flags and flag holders from the veterans’ graves at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, June 1, rain or shine," wrote the Town of West Hartford in an announcement.
Officials estimate that the job should take about an hour and folks are asked to meet at the chapel's garage bay on the cemetery site.

"If you can help, simply show up. No registration is needed," wrote the town. " Many hands make light work."
