Teen, 18, Charged In Armed Robbery In West Hartford: UPDATE

Police have 2 suspects in custody and are searching for a 3rd after a person was robbed at gunpoint during a phone sale in West Hartford.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — An 18-year-old and a juvenile have been charged in connection to an armed robbery that occurred during a planned cellphone transaction in West Hartford on Thursday night, police said in a Friday morning update. A third suspect is still being sought by police. The robbery occurred after the victims attempted to purchase a phone from the suspects that had recently been placed for sale on the “OFFER UP” app, according to Sgt. Anthony Anderle.

Anderle said that the suspects pulled handguns during the purchase of the phone and demanded the victim's money. A fight ensued and the suspects ran away.

West Hartford Patrol officers responded to the area of the Shell Gas Station at South Quaker Lane/Park Road for an attempted robbery at about 7:10 p.m. Officers were informed there were three suspects, including two that had handguns, and they were last seen running north, according to Anderle.

Anderle said an East Hartford K-9 assisted with the search that led the officers to the area of 227 South Quaker Lane.

“While officers were in the area one suspect was seen jumping from a first-floor window of the apartment building located at 227 South Quaker Lane,” Anderle wrote in a press release. “A second suspect was located in the same apartment and taken in custody.”

Safarie Daniels, 18, was charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, criminal attempt at second-degree larceny and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was held on a $100,000 bond.
