Guns Seized, Man In Custody After Standoff: West Hartford Police

Police say several guns were seized from a West Hartford home after a brief standoff with a suicidal man early Monday morning.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Several guns were seized from a West Hartford home after a suicidal man was taken into custody following a standoff situation with police early Monday morning on Shepard Road. Police responded to a Shepard Road home at about 4:10 a.m. for a suicidal person who was armed with a knife and was threatening to harm himself and others, according to police.

“At first he was uncooperative and would not respond to officers,” according to the police report. “After a short period of time he voluntarily exited the house and was taken into custody without incident. He was sent to the hospital for an evaluation.”

Police removed several guns from the home and the incident remains under investigation.
