Guy Ragland Jr. of West Hartford nominated to All-American Game

NWC senior Guy Ragland Jr. of West Hartford has been nominated to the McDonald's All-American game to be played in Houston April 1, 2020.

Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford is delighted to announce that senior Guy Ragland Jr. of West Hartford has been nominated to this year’s McDonald’s All-American game, which will be played at Houston's Toyota Center on April 1, 2020.

Nominated players must be high school seniors who have participated in no more than eight semesters of play and must be in good academic standing. The selection committee is comprised of 34 nationally recognized analysts, scouts, newspaper reporters, and basketball coaches. Ten players from Connecticut have been nominated.

Northwest Catholic Boys Basketball Coach John Mirabello had this to say upon learning of Guy’s nomination: “We are very happy for Guy. He has been tireless in his effort to improve while always seeking what’s best for the team.” Mirabello continued, “He is a great leader and teammate.”

NWC Athletic Assistant Chris Prescott, a graduate of the school, added, “To see Guy get national recognition for his hard work on and off the court is truly amazing. I am so proud of the progress he has made over the years, and it couldn’t have happened to a better student-athlete who represents Northwest with excellence in everything he does.” Prescott was nominated to the McDonald’s All-American Game in 2008 when he was senior at NWC. Prescott joined the NWC Athletic Department this fall. He is a former a professional basketball player and today is also a basketball skills development trainer, mentor, coach, and community leader.
