Hall Boys, Conard Girls Cross Country Teams Win CCC Titles

Hall boys team wins overall CCC title, while Chieftains girls win CCC West.

West Hartford high schools had excellent showings at the Central Connecticut Conference Cross Country Championship at Wickham Park in Manchester on Oct. 16.

The Hall High boys won the overall CCC title and the CCC West crown, with Ari Klau who placed first with a time of 16:11, leading the way.

Zach Magin placed third overall with a time of 16:23, followed by teammate Grant O’Connor (sixth, 16:51), Christopher Ahlquist (ninth, 17:08) and Benjamin Gross (25th, 17:39).

The Conard High girls team also won a championship, capturing the CCC West title.

Shea Williams (19:48) led the way for the Chieftains, placing third in the CCC West and ninth overall. She was followed by Liz Lagoy (4th, CCC West; 13th overall), Randa Griffin (5th, 21st), Alana Waggoner (7th, 30th) and Olivia Bourquin (9th, 32nd).

The Conard High boys placed fifth in the CCC West and 9th out of 28 teams overall. Alec Ferguson-Hul led the Chieftains, placing eighth overall with a time of 17:04.

The Hall High girls finished third in the CCC West and sixth overall. Libby Salzman-Fisk crossed the finish line first for the Warriors with a time of 20:48, good enough for 31st place overall and 8th in the CCC West.

The state Class championships will be run at Wickham Park in Manchester on Oct. 26.
