Hartford Man Charged After West Hartford Home, Vehicle Shot Up: WHPD

West Hartford police say more charges are possibly pending.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A 31-year-old Hartford man is in custody after being charged by West Hartford police in connection with a residence and vehicle being shot up Sunday in West Hartford.

According to a West Hartford Police Department release issued Tuesday afternoon, Janile Anthony Cowan, 31, of Hartford, was charged with second-degree threatening.

He is currently being held on $220,000 bond and the WHPD has indicated more charges could be forthcoming.

According to police, WHPH personnel were called to an undisclosed West Hartford address for a reported property damage complaint.

When they arrived, police noticed "damage consistent with being struck by gunfire on a residence and an unoccupied vehicle at the residence."

"Although the residence was believed to be occupied when the damage occurred, there were no injuries reported as a result of this incident," wrote police in a release.

Police said this appears to be a targeted, isolated incident and there are no threats to the public.

The WHPD said it was assisted by the Greater Hartford Auto Theft Task Force in the probe.

"This is still an active investigation with the possibility of additional criminal charges being sought in connection with this incident," wrote police.
