The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for the chance of severe weather in Hartford and Tolland counties.
But in its latest advisory, the NWS writes there is only a “low risk for an isolated strong thunderstorm” this afternoon and early evening.

Likely, the biggest issue today, will be dealing with the area’s first official heat wave of the season.
By early afternoon temps are expected to reach 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. It will be a bit cooler on Friday with temps in the upper 80s, and for the next few days, temps will be in the low to mid 80s.
It’s beginning to feel like summer is really almost here.
Here is the National Weather Service’s latest hyperlocal forecast for West Hartford:
Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. West wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 63. Northwest wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.
Friday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 10pm. Patchy fog after 5am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Saturday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Southwest wind around 6 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Saturday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82.
