Holiday Fun Promised With West Hartford Theater Group's Latest Musical
Playhouse on Park is hosting a nearly month-long production of the hit comedy 'The Ugly Xmas Sweater Musical' starting Dec. 4.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — The local theater group in West Hartford is putting on quite the holiday show in December, one promising both toe-tapping musical fun and gut-busting guffaws.
Playhouse Theatre Group, Inc., which operates the "Playhouse on Park," 244 Park Road, West Hartford, is producing the northeast premiere of "The Ugly Xmas Sweater Musical,"with shows starting Wednesday, Dec. 4.

The hysterical play by Dan Knechtges and Megan Larche Dominick is directed by Kevin Cronin, with music directed by Miles Messier and Robert James Tomasulo.
"'The Ugly Xmas Sweater Musical' blends the comedy style of 'The Office' with the competitive spirit of Project Runway," wrote Playhouse in an announcement.

"It is a story about a group of employees who must take desperate measures when they learn that their company is being bought out by an international conglomerate.
"In order to save their jobs, they have to come up with the best Ugly Christmas Sweater ever made."
Half-price preview performances are scheduled Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 5, at 2 and 7:30 p.m.
"The Ugly Xmas Sweater Musical" opens Friday, Dec. 6, with a pre-show wine and cheese followed by an 8 p.m. performance.
Performances run through Dec. 22 with shows scheduled Tuesday at 2 p.m., Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
All Sunday performances include a talk-back with the cast immediately after the performance.
Tickets range from $45 to $55 plus a $2.50 service charge per ticket.
Discounts are offered for seniors, students, and military.
It is included in the Main Stage Series and subscriptions are still available for purchase at a 20 percent discount over individual tickets along with other perks.

There is a free Holiday Hootenanny (open mic/sing-along) immediately following the Thursday, Dec. 12 performance.
All performances are BYOB (21 and over only).
River Bend Bookshop will host a pop-up bookstore in the lobby with 20 percent of all sales being donated back to Playhouse on Park.
