The West Hartford Police Department says there are multiple actions folks can do to avoid car break-ins.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — With car crimes and break-ins a law enforcement bugaboo statewide, the West Hartford Police Department is telling folks to be vigilant and take action.

The WHPD this week offered a five-pronged approach to combating the problem of car break-ins.

They are:

• Close the windows.

• Lock your doors and remove keys.

• Install security measures (motion sensor lights, surveillance cameras or alarms)

• Safe parking, such as parking in a garage or a well-lit, visible area.
