West Hartford Hanukah Celebration Moved Indoors: UPDATE

The annual 'Hanukah Fire on Ice' event on Sunday features a lit Menorah made out of ice.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — One of the area's largest Hanukah events has been moved to an indoor venue due to Sunday's expected poor weather.

Town officials announced Sunday morning that the event will take place at the Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, West Hartford.

It was originally slated for 3 p.m. outside West Hartford Town Hall. The time has not changed, just the venue.

Hanukah started this year on Thursday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 10, is the fourth of eight days of the Jewish holiday.

Called the "Hanukah Fire on Ice" celebration, the event takes place annually on the first Sunday of Hanukah.

A super-sized Ice sculptured Menorah will be lit as a highlight of the event, which is hosted by Chabad of Greater Hartford.

The theme for 2023's event focuses on spreading light and goodness.

Festivities will include a live concert by the 8th Day Rock Band; the "Great Hanukay Chocolate Drop; "food and drinks; a trackless train; arts and crafts; and free door gifts and prices, among other activities for all ages.

The concert, according to event organizers, is still on.
