Huge St. Patrick's Theme Celebration Slated In West Hartford With 5K, Festivities, And Charity

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A St. Patrick’s Day–themed road race and community festival will take place Sunday, March 22, in West Hartford, raising money for four children’s nonprofit organizations.

Johnny’s Jog for Charity is scheduled to begin with a 5K at 10:30 a.m. in Blue Back Square, 65 Memorial Road, West Hartford.

Organizers say participants can run, walk, or push strollers in either a timed or untimed format, with a virtual option also available.

The event will feature bagpipers at the start and finish, along with Irish music, step dancing, face painting, and prizes for participants wearing festive attire. Additional activities include a raffle and auction.

Proceeds will benefit Covenant Preparatory School of Hartford, the Molly Ann Tango Memorial Foundation, the Miracle League of Connecticut, and the Center for Children’s Advocacy.

Registration check-in begins at 9 a.m. at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St., with festivities starting at the same time in Blue Back Square.

An after-party is planned immediately following the race at Rockledge Grille.

Organizers say the event is inspired by the life of Johnny Moran, who was born with Wieacker Wolff Syndrome, a rare neurological condition. His family and supporters describe him as having a “warm smile and positive attitude toward life” that impacted those around him.

The annual fundraiser aims to bring the community together while supporting children and families in need.

To date, the event has drawn thousands of participants and raised more than $900,000, according to organizers.
