WEST HARTFORD, CT — An independent, family-owned nursing home that has called West Hartford home since 1961 is closing, according to reports.
Connectict Mirror, a nonprofit, independent online state news website, reported Sunday that Hughes Health & Rehabilitation in West Hartford, located at 29 High St., was closing.
The report cited the high cost of doing business combined with a medical landscape emphasizing more home care options, according to Connecticut Mirror.

According to Connecticut Mirror, the home's capacity is 170 beds, but it had 81 residents living in there as of the announcement of the closing a month ago.
