Jordan's To Build 'Destination' Furniture Store At West Hartford Mall: Report

The store would go in space formerly occupied by Lord & Taylor, which closed its Westfarms Mall site in 2020.

WEST HARTFORD/FARMINGTON, CT — A massive "destination" furniture store is expected to move into vacant anchor space at the Westfarms Mall in West Hartford/Farmington, according to a report by the Hartford Business Journal Monday.

The HBJ is reporting that a "Jordan's Furniture" store will open up inside the mall some time in early 2024.

Citing the company's co-chief executive officer, the HBJ said the new store would be Jordan's eighth in the northeast and second in Connecticut.

Based in Taunton, Mass., Jordan's has another store in New Haven, with other stores located in Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.

The Jordan's would take the place of Lord & Taylor, which closed its Westfarms Mall location amid the height of the pandemic in August 2020 after the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

As for what will go up at the mall, which is located in West Hartford and Farmington, nothing has been finalized, but Jordan's Furniture stores have a reputation for offering much more than just things to sit and sleep on.

For example, according to the Jordan's Furniture website, some stores offer restaurants, zip lines and rope courses, entertainment such as Imax theaters, and more.
