Kiwanis Club of West Hartford to Honor Stars for Kids
Eight members of the community will be honored at the upcoming event for their service to children in the community.

The Kiwanis Club of West Hartford will hold a special award’s night to honor eight people in the community who have been STARS FOR KIDS.
Five high school seniors, a firefighter, a police officer, and a resident will be honored at the event, which will take place on Saturday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the American School for the Deaf.
Recipients are chosen for their exemplary service and volunteerism to help children in the community and beyond.

Claudia Bowles, a Stars for Kids committee member, said the names of the nominees are still coming in and they will be announcing the Stars for Kids recipients soon.
All proceeds from the event will be used to directly benefit community service projects such as the Kiwanis Club of West Hartford’s Early Childhood and Youth Initiatives.

Not only will the evening include the recognition of eight members of our community receiving the Stars For Kids Award, but there will also be live music from the award-winning Hall High School Jazz Band, food, beverages, and a silent auction at which over 200 people are expected to attend.
The awards presentation will be made by Courtney Zieller, News Reporter WFSB Channel 3 and honorary chair and emcee of the Stars for Kids Awards. Student awards will be presented to five high school seniors in West Hartford along with a $500 scholarship.
Stars for Kids awards will also be presented to a firefighter, police officer and West Hartford resident receiving the Mayor’s Award selected and presented by Mayor Slifka.
Tickets for this event are available in advance for only $50 per person or $350 for a table of 8 or $60 per person at the door. The price includes food, wine, beer, soda and live entertainment by the award-winning Hall High Jazz Combo. A portion of the ticket price is tax deductible.
