Large LGBTQ+ Rally Slated In West Hartford Sunday

The event is aimed at encouraging solidarity in the LGBTQ+ community following last week's election of Donald Trump as president.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Several statewide LGBTQ+ organizations are gathering in West Hartford Sunday for a large, post-election rally in support of LGBTQ+ causes.

The event will take place Sunday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at Blueback Square, 65 Memorial Road, West Hartford.

Called a "Rally in Support of LGBTQ+ Lives," the event is being organized by a coalition of Connecticut LGBTQ+ organizations.

It is being "organized to express solidarity with and support for LGBTQIA+ people and families living in Connecticut as the country enters a new Trump era."

Expected speakers include U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.; Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz; and several other state and local leaders.

The rally is open to the public and will be ASL-interpreted.

In addition, counselors will be on-site and there will be youth-oriented spaces including a Zen zone and an open mic tent.

Parking will be available at the Isham or Memorial garages in designated spaces on the street or in surface lots available around Blue Back Square.
