Launch of Apple's iPhone 6 Draws Hundreds in West Hartford

First person in line reportedly arrived at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Westfarms Mall.

Nearly 400 people lined up to get their hands on the new iPhone 6 Friday morning at Westfarms Mall in West Hartford, according to WFSB 3.

They started lining up early in anticipation of the eagerly-awaited release, with the first person in line at about 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to WFSB.

Apple recently unveiled its new products during a massive live event, which included a closing performance by U2, near its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. At the event, the company unveiled its latest – and much larger – iPhones, the 6 and 6 Plus, and also showed off its highly anticipated Apple Watch, which will start at $349 and will be available in early 2015.

The new iPhones will start at $199 for the 16GB iPhone 6 and $299 for the 6 Plus.

“These are the best iPhones we’ve ever made,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said during the event.
