HARTFORD, CT — A licensed practical nurse from West Hartford was among nine nurses who received disciplinary action from the state Board of Examiners for Nursing Wednesday, according to the Connecticut Health I-Team (C-HIT).

Presley Eze Jr., 33, had his LPN license revoked following a number of run-ins with the law and a considerable disciplinary record. According to public state documents and judicial records, Eze was involved in the following incidents between 2011 and 2013:

  • May 11, 2011 - West Hartford police received a report that a male, later identified as Eze, was acting erratically in the parking lot of Trader Joe's, and suspected of being under the influence of PCP. Witnesses reported Eze was observed hitting the ground around his car with a hammer, then pacing around his car with scissors in his hand. Upon police arrival, Eze appeared to be hallucinating and was holding a long narrow-bladed sword. He was arrested and charged with breach of peace, risk of injury to a minor and weapons in a motor vehicle. He received a one-year suspended jail sentence and two years' probation.
  • Aug. 25, 2011 - Eze was involved in a motor vehicle incident which led to his arrest and conviction for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs. He was sentenced to six months in jail, suspended, and 18 months' probation.
  • Apr. 2 1, 2012 - Eze was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct related to a domestic disturbance in his home, in which he was determined to be out of control and under the influence of drugs. His parents called police when he accused his mother of taking money out of his room, and displayed aggressive behavior when he kicked over a pot of food. His father complained that he used "all kinds" of illegal drugs.
  • Jan. 2, 2013 - West Hartford police responded to a silent alarm at Eze's home, where he was wandering barefoot around the snow-covered front yard in his pajamas on a 17-degree day. He had locked himself out of the house and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. He was generally unresponsive to the police officer's questions, and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation for substance abuse.
  • Apr. 16, 2013 - Eze was involved in a motor vehicle incident in which he had driven erratically, causing other cars to swerve to avoid colliding with his car. A West Hartford police officer found him in his car, partially parked in an embankment in the area of the MDC reservoir, facing westbound on the eastbound side of the road. Eze told the officer he had two beers and had ingested Percocet and marijuana earlier that day. He was too impaired to pass any field sobriety tests, and was charged with operating under the influence, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to drive right. He received a two-year prison sentence, suspended after 120 days, and two years' probation.

Public reports indicate Eze became sober, and on March 23, 2016, his LPN license was placed on probation for four years, with numerous restrictions. Following a violation of one of the conditions, the license was placed on another four-year probationary period, superseding the original disciplinary action, in May 2018.
