Light Pole Crashes Down on Car at West Farms Mall in West Hartford
A woman and her two sons were hospitalized for treatment and evaluation following the accident which occurred in the mall parking lot.
A woman and her two sons were transported to Hartford Hospital for treatment after a light pole came crashing down on top of their car while in the parking lot at West Farms Mall on Tuesday.
Emergency crews, including West Hartford police, fire and West Farms Mall Security, responded to the scene.
The pole was resting atop the vehicle in a deep dent that extended across the rear roof and roof rack and went down to both the rear passenger’s and driver’s side doors, according to a police report.

The driver told police that she was driving in the parking lot of the West Farms Mall when a light pole fell and hit the rear roof of her vehicle. She said at the time of the accident her son, a juvenile, was seated in the rear driver’s side seat, and her other son was in an infant car seat, which was secured in the rear passenger’s seat.
The older son complained of left head pain and nausea from where the roof of the vehicle hit his head.

The woman complained of chest pain.
Members of the West Hartford Fire Department rendered aide to both and they were transported to Hartford Hospital, via AMR Ambulance, for further evaluation.
