MadSingers Participates in Bach in the Subways International

MadSingers of West Hartford Bring Bach's Birthday to Union Station Hartford

On Wed. 3/22/17, MadSingers of West Hartford participated in Bach in the Subways, an international grass roots movement to perform Bach's music on or near his birthday for free in a public venue. MadSingers rendered a cappella counterpoint in resonant Union Station, Hartford, featuring Sicut Locutus Est, Alleluja, Pleni Sunt Coeli, Bouree from Lute Suite #1, and Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring. Passersby and station staff paused and listened and one brave employee joined in singing Sicut Locutus Est! Bach in the Subways website explains:

"Every year for Bach’s birthday a spontaneous, global community of
musicians unites to sow the seeds for future generations of classical
music lovers and share their joy and inspiration for their artform."

In 2016, MadSingers decided it would be amusing to sing Bach's birthday moment in West Hartford's Subway sandwich shop to the suprise and mutual amusement of lunchgoers. Look for MadSingers to participate again at Hartford's Union Station in 2018 on Bach's actual birthday, Wed. Mar. 21, 2018! Come hear us!
