The Magical Rise Of Kayla Drescher

Professional magician Kayla Drescher didn’t fall into the art of magic in the most traditional way. Trained in acting, comedy, improve, she returned time and again to magic, finding it the most satisfying way to foster her own creativity while communicating with an audience.

Kayla grew up in Wallingford, Ct where she and her father wandered into a local magic shop when she was 7 years old. She was fascinated by the magician behind counter who cut up rope and maagicallty put back together. Following her original fascination with magic, she met and studied with Bill Andrews, 80, who was her mentor throughout childhood.

Always hoping to learn more about the art of magic, Kayla enrolled in magic classes and attended magic camp. She later went to college to study environmental science & green energy .

Though still fascinated by magic, she didn’t intend to be a professional magician. After graduation, she moved to Boston, bartended and developed her unique style of magic from behind the bar using everyday objects. From there, Kayla found the next logical move in her career was to move out west.

Kayla made her move out to Las Vegas after winning David Cooperfield’s Search for the Next Great Magician on the Today show. Although she learned much in Las Vegas, she found that she wasn’t the best fit for the town and went even further west.

She then moved onto Los Angeles after a year and instantly felt at home. Relocating provided a much needed environment of support and encouragement to grow as a performer.

Kayla’s goal was to do something very different on stage -- to tell a story with magic being a special effect within her story. This approach had been inspired by David Copperfield’s method of telling stories through each of his performances .

Kayla's creativity and communication skills have made her story based magic extremely compelling to audiences of diverse backgrounds and age groups. As she discovered years ago, magic is not about tricks or fooling people, but about connecting with people and altering their perceptions on life in an entertaining way.
