Man Arrested, Charged with Damaging Woman's Car After Being Splashed with Water in West Hartford

Police said they arrested a man charged with damaging a woman's car in a fit of rage.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Police have made an arrest in connection to a recent incident where a man exploded in rage and damaged a woman's car.

On March 15, a woman accidentally splashed the suspect with snow/slush as she drove down New Park Avenue. Police said the suspect proceeded to get in his car and chase after the woman.

The suspect then allegedly pulled in front of the victim's car and blocked her path, before then exiting his car and grabbing a crow bar from his trunk. He then struck her car several times with the object.

Police said the suspect was screaming obscenities at the occupants during the incident before fleeing.

The victim was not physically injured in the incident, however her car had damage to the hood and driver's side head light. The rear passenger side tail light was also cracked.

The suspect was identified as Mark Diaz, 23, of Benton Street in Hartford. Diaz turned himself in Tuesday to the West Hartford Police Department.

Diaz was charged with Criminal Mischief, Breach of Peace, Threatening, Reckless Endangerment and Driving Under Suspension. He is scheduled to appear in court March 30.
