WEST HARTFORD, CT — State police are looking for information regarding a serious crash in West Hartford Sunday morning that claimed the life of a 22-year-old New Britain man.

According to Connecticut State Police from Troop H in Hartford, the crash happened at 6:31 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 84 west.

Police said Luis Daniel Colon, 22, of Corbin Avenue, New Britain, was killed when the 2010 Toyota Sienna multi-purpose vehicle crossed three lanes of traffic and slammed into a concrete sound barrier in West Hartford.

According to state police, the Toyota was traveling on I-84 west, just east of Exit 40, in the left shoulder.

Then, for an "unknown reason," the vehicle traveled across all three lanes of travel, went across the right shoulder and then traversed the theoretical gore, crossing the Exit 41 entrance ramp and coming to an "uncontrolled rest" against the concrete sound barrier on the right side of the roadway, according to the accident report, which was released Sunday afternoon.

Police said the driver, later identified as Colon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

State police are looking for any witness who may have seen the collision or have dashcam footage of the vehicle at that time.
