Man Leads Police on I-84 Chase Before Crashing in West Hartford, Found with Drugs

Police sad the man appeared intoxicated and was found with heroin, cocaine and more. BREAKING

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Police said they arrested a man over the weekend who led police on a chase down Interstate 84 and crashed in West Hartford.

Police said they observed the suspect traveling on I-84 early Sunday morning with improper registration. He did not stop for officers when they attempted to pull him over, but instead continued on the interstate at high speed, according to a release.

Edwin Antonio Chevere, 26, led police on a chase down the interstate and continued too try and evade officers by exiting the highway. Police said he crashed his vehicle on the off-ramp of Exit 40 in West Hartford.

Chevere then fled from his car into a nearby wooded area, where police pursued him on foot. Police eventually apprehended the suspect, who officers said appeared intoxicated.

The suspect was found with 46.5 grams of heroin 18.2 grams of cocaine in his vehicle, as well as a small amount of marijuana. He was then taken into custody on a number of charges.

Chevere was released on $75,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 6.
