Man Protesting West Hartford DUI Checkpoint Sues 3 State Troopers: Report

Troopers allegedly violated a man's constitutional rights and fabricating charges.

WEST HARTFORD, CT – A lawsuit was filed Thursday against three state troopers accused of violating a protesters constitutional rights, the Hartford Courant reported.

The troopers reportedly seized Michael Picard’s legally carried pistol and camera Sunday due to alleged public complaint, according to the Hartford Courant. The lawsuit said the troopers then got together to fabricate charges against Picard, unaware the camera was filming.

An internal affairs investigation is currently active at the department, the Hartford Courant reported. Picard had been known by police to protest sobriety checkpoints, claiming they are a waste of public money.
