Man Stops Teen Car Thieves In West Hartford

The man was shocked to see two teenage girls trying to steal his Jeep moments after he said hello to them as they walked by on the sidewalk.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — A West Hartford man stopped two teenage girls from stealing his Jeep out of his driveway Thursday night and police later arrested the girls after they stole a neighbor’s car while fleeing, according to FOX 61.

FOX 61 reports it all started at about 7 p.m. on LaSalle Road in West Hartford when Austin Hersh left the Jeep running in his driveway for a minute while he went to grab something quick inside the house. Hersh said hello to two girls who were walking by on the sidewalk and was then shocked to see them trying to steal his Jeep while he was inside, according to FOX 61.

The girls struck a parked car while trying to get away and got out of the vehicle and stole a nearby neighbor’s Volvo. We-Ha.com reports the two teens, ages 14 and 15, were tracked to a location in Hartford and arrested. The teens were known to police due to previous encounters, according to We-Ha.
