Motorcyclist Injured In West Hartford Collision: Police

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Local police say a motorcyclist was seriously injured Monday afternoon after colliding with a car on South Main Street.

According to the West Hartford Police Department, the motorcycle rider suffered "serious injuries" and was rushed to an area hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car, police said, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital for medical care.

Police said the accident happened at about 1:53 p.m. near 433 S. Main St.

"As a result of the collision, West Hartford Police Department personnel closed South Main Street to vehicular and pedestrian traffic between New Britain Avenue and Beechwood Road," wrote the WHPD in a statement.

Traffic exiting Interstate 84 onto South Main Street was also detoured north onto South Main Street to avoid the area, police said.

By 6 p.m., all roadways had reopened and traffic resumed to normal.

Police said the accident is being probed by the West Hartford Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team and it "remains an active and ongoing investigation."
