West Hartford's National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists Named
Seven high school seniors in West Hartford are still in the running for prestigious scholarships at the end of the school year.
WEST HARTFORD, CT — Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corp. Sept. 12 announced the names of more than 16,000 semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Among the names are seven from West Hartford high schools, who are still eligible for the prestigious scholarships.
They are:

• Conard High School: Miles S. Moynihan and Jaydon A. Schuler.
• Hall High School: Henry T. Frank, Alexander P. Hyams, Nora Y. Kingwell and Abhaya Sundar.

• Kingswood-Oxford School: Bassil I. Chughta
The high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.
