Netflix Series on Suicide Prompts Response from West Hartford Educators
Educators in West Hartford and elsewhere in Connecticut are warning parents about a recent controversial Netflix series.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Educators in West Hartford and elsewhere in Connecticut are warning parents about a Netflix program, the Hartford Courant reported. The series, entitled “13 Reasons Why,” graphically paints a picture of a girl driven to suicide.
Many across the state feel the series tackles important issues but could negatively affect young viewers, according to the Hartford Courant. West Hartford Director of Pupil Services Gretchen L. Nelson sent a notice home last week to parents and guardians in response to the series. (To sign up for West Hartford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)
The notice contained information about local and national psychiatric and counseling services and suicide prevention hotlines for teens watching the show, the Hartford Courant reported. Nelson said West Hartford educators neither endorse or criticizing the show.
