New Britain Police Searching for Accused Rapist
New Britain and Hartford police are searching for a Hartford man accused of sexual assault and robbery out of New Britain.

New Britain and Hartford police are asking for the public to help them locate a Hartford man accused of sexual assault and robbery out of New Britain.
New Britain police began investigating on Sept. 6 after they were dispatched shortly before midnight to The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus, after an adult woman said she was attacked near West Main St and Grove Hill Street, said New Britain Police Capt. Thomas Steck in a release.
Police obtained an arrest warrant on Sunday for Antonio Ponder, 24, of Edwards Street in Hartford, but haven’t been able to locate him, Steck said. The warrant charges Ponder with first-degree sexual assault, third-degree robbery and third-degree assault.

“We have cause to believe the accused is a danger and possibly in the Hartford area,” said Hartford Police Deputy Chief Brian Foley.
