The New Children's Museum awarded new grant for "Framed: Step into Art"

The New Children's Museum of West Hartford received a new grant to support the new exhibit "Framed: Step Into Art."

The New Children’s Museum of West Hartford received a new grant to support the upcoming exhibit “Framed: Step Into Art.” The Edward C. & Ann T. Roberts Foundation, the most recent grantor, joins Farmington Bank Community Foundation and JCJ Architecture as lead sponsors.

Opening February 14, 2015, “Framed: Step Into Art” launches the Museum’s newest initiative to build critical thinking, creativity and visualization in children through STEAM programs and exhibits, which integrate science, technology, engineering, art, and math. The exhibit will remain open until May 10, 2015.

“Framed: Step Into Art” will allow visitors to become part of the scene and take an active role in constructing the meaning and narrative of each work. Entering the exhibit through an over-sized frame, guests become instantly immersed in imaginative environments modeled after iconic artworks by Grant Wood, John Singer Sargent, Clementine Hunter, and Diego Rivera.

The New Children’s Museum is home to over 100 live animals, hands-on science exhibits, out-of-this-world digital planetarium shows, and programs for young children and families. The New Children’s Museum and Roaring Brook Nature Center are the region’s premiere destinations for science and nature exploration.
